Gridworks Completes Three Standalone Battery Energy Storage Projects for Plus Power and ERCOT

Over the summer of 2024, Gridworks completed the engineering, procurement, and construction for three of Plus Power's most recent standalone battery energy storage projects located throughout the state of Texas – Rodeo Ranch Energy Storage, Ebony Energy Storage, and Anemoi Energy Storage.

Located in Pecos, Texas, Rodeo Ranch is a state-of-the-art battery energy storage system for up to 300 MW / 600 MWh that contributes real-time energy and frequency-stabilizing services to the ERCOT electricity system. It is also the largest standalone constructed battery project to date in the state of Texas.

“These three landmark projects in total help the ERCOT market with reliability by providing real-time energy and a range of grid services when and where Texas needs it most,” said Naveen Abraham, Chief Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Officer of Plus Power.

The Ebony Storage project is a battery energy storage project for up to 200 MW / 400 MWh located near San Antonio, Texas where it interconnects near critical transmission infrastructure, adjacent to CPS's Green Mountain 138kV substation.

Anemoi Energy Storage, located near Edinburg, Texas is a battery energy storage facility for up to 200 MW / 400 MWh. Anemoi will help grid operators combat the effects of more frequent extreme weather events by increasing capacity on the grid and in the region.

“We worked in lockstep with the Plus Power team, and they were a wonderful partner in building these projects. Through this process over the past two years, over 500 construction jobs were created across the three projects,” stated Jerry Heminger, Battery Energy Storage Vice President of Gridworks.

“Gridworks is incredibly grateful to Plus Power for their great partnership on these historic projects. We look forward to the continued opportunity to build for the state of Texas, ERCOT, and Plus Power,” stated Bob Bellemare, Chief Executive Officer of Gridworks.
